The depths of your own and your honey's creative experiences are an ongoing revelation. Thx for excavating, Davey. Artchaeologist extraordinaire! (Not a typo)
Thank you thank you thank you… I feel like I’m in the midst of a musical memoir where I can submerge myself to another fascinating life. What a gorgeous generosity to be a recipient of!
Oh wow, thank you for these posts! Such memories! Garden was the gateway to SD for me and a bunch of relationships that so fostered and encouraged my subsequent life in music. I am sooo looking forward to these Garden recordings. I can still hear those voices from deep in my memory.. While I was in Ames Garden invited me to play some gigs with them including gigs in Ames, in SD, and in Colorado. I will carry the vibe of that music with me always! I was with Susan when, upon diving back to Spink from Colorado we discovered her house had burned to the ground...
David, oh man, thanks for this. Of course I remember the Firehouse recordings...as you know I recorded those. I hung mics from the ceiling of that big open Firehouse room thinking that was a good idea. By the way, that was a Tom Peterson program and he introduced Garden. I had never heard those other recordings from the Mill. Those are so well recorded. What amazing music! I didn't really understand how good and creative it was at the time, how loose and yet so sophisticated this music was is, lyrically and musically. As my ear has gradually gotten more educated as the years have gone on, now I stand truly amazed. Also...I had never heard Colleen's tune Wilderness. How stunningly good! Here's to Marilyn, Coleen and Susan. Garden! Thanks, again, David.
Incredible !, What a gift for me to hear this DAVID , and the memories I have especially Colleen (who latter came to live with me ) and Susan, Marilyn I met once (when I had just left a “ Christian “ Ministry home , he who was only a couple years out of being a Pimp , I HIGHTAILED out of there as soon as I could he was a big BUMMER as we said back then ) Anyway I met Marilyn when Susan and Colleen ,Mark and Marilyn and a few others showed up at my EFFICIENCY apartment here in MPLS with the white towels on their heads, to go to a meditation event , after the Pimp Pastor I wasn’t in the mood for another group .. . Also it was a little tight on space that few days as I remember ….Again I love that you shared this David what a HUGE Birthday🎂 gift for Colleen and for lovely Marilyn …💗thank you and love you my Brother in law
